Towing convoy with conductor supported platform performs a voyage on the Volga Caspian Marine Shipping Canal

A towing convoy, which transports a conductor supported platform designed for developing the Y. Korchagin oil deposit in the northern part of the Caspian Sea, left the seaport of Astrakhan and started its voyage to the deposit on the Volga Caspian Marine Shipping Canal on July 18, 2018.

This is the second large dimensional block to perform a voyage to the northern part of the Caspian Sea with the assistance of the Astrakhan Branch.

Specialists of the Branch navigational and hydrographic support service have completed all preliminary measurements along the line of the convoy’s movement. The measurements allow for securely carrying out the towing operation of this block. During the voyage, specialists perform permanent monitoring of the current navigational situation on all sections of the route  of the convoy on the Volga Caspian Marine Shipping Canal.

Pilots of the Astrakhan Branch performs pilotage of the convoy in cooperation with operators of the Astrakhan VTMS.

The towing convoy is expected to leave for the northern part of the Caspian Sea on July 21, 2018.
