As part of the environmental measures taken by the FSUE “Rosmorport” related to compensating damage to water resources and their environment caused in 2015 during the dredging operations on the Volga Caspian Shipping Canal about 2,500 young sturgeons were released to the Volga River on July 16, 2018 by the Astrakhan Branch. The operation has been supervised by state regulatory authorities.

This release of young sturgeons produced by the specialized fish farm by order of the Astrakhan Branch has become the first one this year. Totally, two releases of young fish are scheduled for 2018 that will help release about 2.4 mln young carps to the Volga River.

The Astrakhan Branch spent 40,000 Rubles to produce and release young sturgeons to the Volga River. Totally, under the compensation measures taken by the Astrakhan Branch in 2018, the Branch is expected to spend at least five million Rubles.
