The Astrakhan Branch organized excursions to the the Kapitan Bukayev and the Kapitan Chechkin icebreakers for cadets of the Caspian Institute of Sea and River Transport – the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education “The Volga State Academy of Water Transport” and the State Budgetary Professional Educational Institution of Astrakhan Region “Astrakhan College of Professional Technology” from April 27, 2018 to May 14, 2018.

During the excursions, equipment and the construction of the existing icebreakers was demonstrated to the cadets studying at departments related to marine navigation, operation of shipboard and power systems, shipboard electrical equipment and aids to navigation.

Crewmembers told the cadets about operation of navigation equipment of the pilot bridge, key particulars of the icebreaker, operation of the vessel’s engine room, key technical characteristics of icebreakers working at the Volga Caspian Seaway Channel and the seaports of the Astrakhan region.

During the meeting employees of the enterprise told the cadets about key directions of the activities of the enterprise, which marks its 15^th anniversary this year, its tasks and prospects, the specifics of the work of the Astrakhan Branch to ensure navigation safety in the seaports of Astrakhan and Olya.

During the excursions, employees of the Astrakhan Branch also carried out a task to help the cadets form the conscious and reasonable attitude toward their professional identity and get a clear idea of the nuances of selected professions.

It is necessary to note that the Astrakhan Branch develops longstanding and active cooperation with educational institutions of Astrakhan in order to create the personnel reserve. The Astrakhan Branch is planning to organize work experience internship for students of educational institutions in 2018 to allow them to obtain practical knowledge and skills.
