Arkhangelsk Branch organizes release of juvenile salmon

As part of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Arkhangelsk Branch compensatory measures aimed at compensating for damage to aquatic biological resources and their habitat during dredging operations in the water area of the Belomorsk sea terminal of the Onega seaport in 2022, juvenile Atlantic salmon has been released into the Kem River.

Two-year-old salmon with an average weight of about 60 g in the amount of 1,990 pieces that had been grown by a specialized fish hatchery on the order of the branch, was released on October 24, 2023 in the presence of representatives of state control and supervisory authorities.

The expenses of the branch for the growing and releasing of this batch of juveniles amounted to almost 1.5 million rubles.

As a result of the Arkhangelsk Branch activities, all the damage caused during the repair dredging works in the water area of the sea terminal was fully compensated.

This is the second release of juveniles held by the Arkhangelsk Branch this year. Earlier, the branch released more than 11.5 thousand pieces of juvenile salmon into the Onega River.

In the nearest future, the Arkhangelsk Branch also plans to organize the release of Atlantic salmon juveniles into the Onega River in the amount of more than 7 thousand pieces as part of the compensatory measures aimed at compensating for damage during dredging in 2022 in the Dvinsky Bay of the White Sea.
